Working with the Cell Biology and Physiology department at the University of New Mexico, I developed a virtual laboratory and embedded a slide viewer (at that time Olympus WebSlide Server) for faculty & student access at the University. This site featured various laboratories, designed to guide students in learning and applying the basic principles and facts about the microscopic anatomy of the cells and tissues of the human body. The goal is that one would understand the organization of structures in relation to their function at the cellular, tissue and organ level.
The site made the shift in 2012 to the Aperio slide viewer, presenting a more cost-efficient option, and future compatibility with iOS devices.
